2015 KIS Grants Awarded

This year, The Kenya Irish Society disbursed 2,000,000 KSh between 16 worthy projects. The cheques were handed over as part of the Society’s AGM, held on 16th May at Noelle O’Briens home, in front of over 50 attendants. Quiz Night 2015

Please book your table by Friday November 5th so we can get a good estimate of numbers in time. Our annual quiz will take place at the Goan Gymkhana on Saturday, November 14th so please get a quiz team together and join us for a fun night out. Gerry Cunningham and Lesley Mullan will be leading the quiz masters on the night. 2015 KIS Grants – Solar Panels for Eastlands College of Technology

The Kenya Irish Society provided a grant of 140,000KES to the Strathmore Educational Trust (Eastlands College of Technology) to assist in the installation of Solar Panels so that lighting could be provided at the College of Technology. This will help the primary school children and the underprivileged youth that attend the college. Over the first two weeks of July 2015 a team comprising Electronics students form the college as well as students from Xabec Technical college in Spain worked to complete the project. Remembrance Day Wreath Laying

Christmas Carols

Our remaining event for 2015 is the Christmas Carols – an event which was started by John and Jean Duffy a few years back. We are delighted to say that Our Ambassador, Vincent O’Neill and his wife Bróna have offered to host the carols on Monday, December 21st starting from 6.00 p.m. The venue will be the Irish Ambassador’s Residence at 3 Mua Park Road, Muthaiga. Christmas Party 2015

The annual Kenya Irish Society Christmas Party was held on Saturday the 5th of December in the Muthaiga Club. It was a wonderful day, the rain held off, and over ninety adults and children had a Christmas feast of turkey, ham and and all the trimmings. With the help of the Irish Embassy, we were delighted to have Colette Bryce, an award winning poet from Derry, who helped us celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of William Butler Yeats.
